As schools around the country close due to the coronavirus, millions of teachers and students are in need of support. Some teachers are expected to suddenly develop remote learning plans, while students are separated from crucial reading resources like school and classroom libraries. In an effort to support our community during these uncertain times, we are:
- Making our comics-based learning platform Get Media Lit free through the end of the 2019-2020 school year. On our platform, you will find standards-aligned lessons for grades 4-10 perfect for classroom discussion. All new free trial sign ups will automatically remain active through the end of the school year.
- We’re making all issues of our flagship comic, The UnCommons, free to read. Student choice is a crucial part of literacy, and we’re doing our part to make sure diverse options are available.
- Our creative team is volunteering their time to perform digital classroom visits. If you are a teacher hosting a remote class and would like a member of our team to discuss comics, writing, or literacy with your students, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
This issue is something that impacts all of our communities at large, and we want you to know that Weird Enough has your back. Stay Weird!
